Fall 2007:
Introduction
Welcome all! This is our second newsletter and a lot has
happened with our organization in a very short period of time.
What do we want to become? This is the question for every new
organization and High Concept Design & Media Services is no
different. A small company does not have the bandwidth to be
everything to everybody and typically does not have the
resources to make a splash so large that everyone gets wet.
So what is our identity? What are we shaping up to become?
We decided early on that we wanted to use our considerable
experience to focus on filling a gap we recognized in the
existing AEC market. Architects, engineers, construction
companies, manufacturers and building developers require
technical experts who understand their industry, can integrate
their construction drawings, CAD and working models into 2D and
3D presentations to help them communicate their designs, market
their products to their customers and create presentations that
can win more business for their firms. Once integrated, this
work needs to be developed into websites, prepared for print and
signage and incorporated into dazzling media presentations by an
organization that understands marketing. This is our core
service offering.
One of things we understand is sometimes you just want to
know how to do it yourself and that is why we create free
tutorials and host seminars. We want to showcase our knowledge
and develop open forums to discuss workflow and process. If you
are into digital 3D modeling, our Lead Designer, Jeff Matheson
has created a fascinating overview of his process in this months
Concepts section.
High Concept is an authorized provider of solutions from
Adobe, Corel and Wacom, and has become the
only Corel Training Partner in Western Canada! We just
recently added VTC online and CD training to our
offerings – these quality training products include exercise
files and range from conventional 2D software to 3D (3ds max),
CAD (AutoCAD) and BIM(Revit). I encourage your to review our
catalogue.
High Concept Design & Media services also offers custom
design training for our clients and is recognized as an
authorized provider for the Architectural Institute of
British Columbia’s (AIBC) Continuing Education System.
A couple of other announcements: in addition to some quality
client work that we will be able to share soon (review our
images in our
Project Showcase to get a glimpse of what we are up to), our
Art & Entertainment site went live this month (www.artkings.ca),
this will be our opportunity to develop some of our creative
intellectual properties as well as illustrative and
non-commercial artwork. Our Blog has also launched and is
getting some regular contributions from the entire High Concept
team.
Our growth has been organic, but we are hoping to develop
into a partner you can turn to and trust when you are looking
for advanced media solutions and custom design. I am sure the
ride will be fun, just hold on tight because there are no brakes
on this thing! Dan McKinnon
